What You Get

    Daily maid service, and host assist.
  • All guides are U.S. Coast Guard approved and Alaska Dept. of Fish & Game licensed. One guide for each two guests.
  • When boats are used, only 2 guests and one guide are in each boat – no crowded and competitive conditions!
  • Private bedrooms by request. Normal occupancy is 2 guests to each bedroom, with private bath.

Travel Between Your Home And King Salmon, Alaska

For your Alaska Fly Fishing Trip, book your flight from your home city to the town of King Salmon, Alaska. You should plan on arriving in King Salmon before 5 pm. Penn Air (800) 448-4226 has a flight departing Anchorage @ 3:30 pm, arriving in King Salmon 4:45 pm. The Lodge floatplanes will transport you to the lodge between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm. All flights to King Salmon originate in Anchorage, Alaska. Most of you will have two flight segments, the first from your home city to Anchorage, Alaska, the second from Anchorage, Alaska to King Salmon, Alaska. Your flight to King Salmon will require a plane change in Anchorage before continuing on to King Salmon. Depending upon where your home city is, you may or may not overnight in Anchorage, although most will.

On changeover day we will meet your arriving flight in the town of King Salmon. Our pilots and guides will be at the airport terminal waiting for you. If you arrive in King Salmon early, there are various restaurants and bars within walking distance – look for the Alaska Rainbow Lodge van outside the terminal, deposit your bags in the back, and relax! Don’t worry about getting left behind, we will find you. After greeting you at the King Salmon terminal we will then drive one mile to our floatplane base on the Naknek River. From there, we will then fly you to the lodge, a 30-minute flight in our lodge-owned float equipped aircraft.

Here is a listing of Alaska Airlines and Alaska Hotels that will assist you in making travel reservations to our Lodge. Two airlines fly from Anchorage to King Salmon: Alaska Airlines and PenAir. When you confirm a trip with us, make your airlines reservations right away because Transportation to our Fishing Lodge from Anchorage to King Salmon fills up quickly. The full roster of flights between Anchorage and King Salmon won’t be listed during the winter months as it’s a slow time for them. Just remember we meet all flights from 2:00pm to 5:00pm for arriving guests, and we’ll deliver you to the King Salmon airport between 8:00am and 12:00 noon for your departing flight to Anchorage.

Corporate Aircraft

If you arrive for your Alaska Fly Fishing Vacation or Retreat in Corporate or private aircraft, the King Salmon airport (PAKN) has a 7500 foot full ILS hard surface runway with published approaches and a FBO who can service you with gas or jet fuel. Hard surface parking is available. Flight crew lodging is available in King Salmon at the King Ko Inn (907/246-3377). We will meet all private aircraft if you will notify us and provide us with your tail number and flight plan. We prefer arrivals at mid-day.

Luggage Tags

Alaska Rainbow Lodge sends all confirmed guests a special baggage tag at least sixty days prior to your trip. These fluorescent tags assist us in locating your bags in King Salmon. In the unlikely event you lose one or all your bags, these tags have our phone number and name on them. All the local airlines know us and can quickly notify us when the bag is located.


Going Home

Book your flight from King Salmon to Anchorage between 8:00am and 12:00 noon. We will fly you back to King Salmon from our Bristol Bay area lodge anytime between 8:00am and 12:00 noon.

On your departure day we leave from the lodge at 8:00 am. Many people book the early flight out of King Salmon (approx. 9:00 am). If you opt for the first flight, keep in mind that weather delays are very possible. Travel time between Alaska Rainbow Lodge and King Salmon is approximately 30 minutes. Unscheduled flights between King Salmon and the lodge are available at an additional charge of $425.00.

Gratuities

Our employees pride themselves on making your Alaska fly fishing trip and adventure as exciting and enjoyable as possible. Our Alaska Fishing Guides and lodge employees work hard and strive to provide a service beyond a basic fishing trip. You are never left with a feeling that exceptional service is contingent upon the amount of tip you might leave. All gratuities are pooled and are split equally among the staff unless you stipulate otherwise. Gratuities must be earned by our team. A suggested guideline amount is based on the package lodge fee.

Disclosure

Ron Hayes or Alaska Rainbow Lodge will not be responsible or liable for any loss, damage or injury to participants, personal property, or for any cancellations, expenses or delays incurred as a result of weather, transportation or other conditions over which we have no control. Management reserves the right to withdraw and/or cancel any excursions offered at any time and make changes in itineraries as may be necessary for safety and proper handling of said excursions. All guests have a responsibility to disclose to management any special medical, physical or dietary conditions. We make no compromise to assure a safe trip; however, outdoor activities of this nature are not entirely “risk free”. We recommend that you secure travel and trip cancellation insurance. Check with your insurance broker for options on this type insurance. All rates are subject to change without notice but will not change once booking is confirmed.



Policy

Deposits are accepted under the following conditions: in the event of cancellation more than 180 days prior to the starting date, the full amount will be refunded; cancellations less than 180 days but more than 90 days, no refund will be made; cancellation less than 90 days, the full amount of the trip will become due and payable unless a replacement can be found. Deposit of 50% per person is required for final confirmation. Because bookings are made so far in advance there will be no reduction in rate for guests who voluntarily eliminate any of the services included in the standard rate, or who depart the lodge prior to the end of their scheduled stay. Unless you book the entire lodge for the requested date, you will be willing to share accommodations that are considered reasonable.
