Lots of lodges claim they are fly-out lodges. After arriving you discover that you'll only fly out two days out of seven, or that the lodge only has enough airplanes for half the guests.
Many lodges in southwest Alaska operate on a program that they call "Daily fly-out fishing". What this means is that every day, ALL the guests must pack up into an airplane and fly to a different destination to spend the day fishing. But if the weather is un-flyable, you're stuck without a place to fish.
Some lodges are river-based lodges (no fly-out fishing). They state that they never have to depend on the weather to go fishing. They don't mention that if their river is flooded, or the fish run has moved on, you're out of luck. Alaska Rainbow Lodge is a river-based lodge PLUS we fly out daily. You are assured of finding rivers with the highest concentration of fish. You have the greatest river in Alaska (the Kvichak) as a back up should the weather turn bad.
At Alaska Rainbow Lodge we have the best of both worlds. The fishing is excellent on our "Home" river, and we are very close to ALL the premier "fly-out" rivers of the Iliamna-Katmai region of Bristol Bay.
There are at least four other Alaska fishing lodges with the word Rainbow in their name. We are the only Alaska Rainbow Lodge. Imitated yes... equaled, never. Accept no substitutes. Look for our logo. It's a trout rising out of a map of the state of Alaska. If you don't see this logo, it's not Alaska Rainbow Lodge. We will gladly furnish a list of references.
You may be confused by the number of lodges in Alaska who claim to be the best. I know what my own idea of being the best is:
