History
Founded in 1982 by legendary Alaskan guide Ron Hayes and his wife, Sharon, Alaska Rainbow Lodge was built with one goal—providing access to the best fishing in the world. What began as a single lodge with space for just 10 guests has grown into a premier fly-out fishing destination with top-tier infrastructure and unbeatable access to Bristol Bay’s finest waters.
For over three decades, Ron and Sharon set the standard for remote Alaskan fishing, offering expert guides, top-quality equipment, and exceptional hospitality. In 2016, longtime lodge pilot Chip Ferguson and his wife, Amanda, took the helm, continuing the tradition of world-class fishing adventures. With their passion and dedication, they carry forward the legacy of excellence that has made Alaska Rainbow Lodge a premier destination for anglers seeking the ultimate Alaskan experience.

Spanning 40,000 square miles of pristine wetlands, wild landscapes, and winding rivers, Southwest Alaska is a haven for both anglers and wildlife enthusiasts. Flowing into the legendary Bristol Bay, these waters support an incredible variety of marine life, with salmon serving as the backbone of the region’s ecosystem and economy.
At Alaska Rainbow Lodge, you’ll not only experience world-class fishing but also have the chance to witness Alaska’s abundant wildlife in its natural habitat.
